Abu Dhabi: An Asian man was stopped from killing himself on Thursday by the Abu Dhabi Police after he threatened to jump down from an etisalat antenna tower.

Brigadier General Musallam Mohammad Al Amiri, director at the Directorate of External Police, said the control centre received a call in the afternoon about a man who wanted to kill himself. Ambulances and police patrols were immediately dispatched to talk the man out of his suicidal intentions.

According to Al Amiri, the man told the police he was going through problems he wasn’t able to handle, which is why he wanted to kill himself. The police managed to negotiate with the man for a short time after which they convinced him to come down from the antenna tower.
